Since I consider it better to stop living than live on them watery soups and chomp on raw salads, or whatever these so called “diets” call food, I’ve decided to come up with a simple diet plan of my own. It’s called “The Packetless Diet”. The essence of this plan is to stop eating anything that comes in a ready-to-eat format (i.e. in a packet) and only eat whatever one can cook. The way this will work is, you sweat it out for your food. I am hoping that for me this will work perfectly because after work commitments, baby, family and personal time, I will have very little time left to cook complicated things. That’s the way it’ll make it difficult to have access to excess food. Also even if one binges, one just can not binge on food made by evil corporations with evil ingredients. Basically even if you err, though not encouraged, you won’t do too much damage to your body. I am defining it further as follows:
Allowed:
- Grains (wheat, rice, all kinds of daal (pulses))
- Flour (I know this is kind of processed food, but I’ve allowed items with minimal processing. It can only be wheat flour, rice flour etc. No processed flour. Which means no maida, no rava)
- All vegetables and fruits (No peeled garlic, no pre chopped vegetables, no frozen vegetables)
- Masalas and other misc stuff (Mustard, jeera, chilly powder, salt, sugar etc.)
Banned:
Any snack that comes in a packet. Indicative list as follows:
- Bread, rusk, buns or any bakery items
- No kurkure, no biscuits, no wafers, no haldirams
- No restaurant food or take aways
- No papad or ready-to-fry items
I am glad that the list of allowed items includes mangoes. :) And on the banned list, the only item that worries me is the take-aways. When both husband and I are stuck for long meetings throughout the day, take-away is a convenient option that has come to our rescue many a times.
I am also worried I’ll find loopholes in this plan and abuse it. I know myself. So what blaring loopholes do you see? Is it doable? Will it help? Would you consider it?
I am starting today. Watch out for updates. And if they don’t come, come looking for me in the asylum.
